For a moment there, the UK was almost ahead: Mio’s Navman Spirit TV PNDs wowed and impressed with their blend of GPS navigation and digital TV, only to be blown out of the proverbial water by Korean firm Hyundai Telematics.

Magellan have officially launched their latest PND, the Maestro 4700, a little over a month since it was spotted clearing the FCC. The 4700 has a 4.7-inch touchscreen together with voice command and Bluetooth with a noise-canceling microphone.

Garmin announced today new models for their Foretrex line, specifically the Foretrex 301 and the Foretrex 401. These models are wrist-mounted and offer a convenient GPS device on the go.

When your first handset looks set to rack up close to twelve months of delay, you may as well announce a few more. That seems to be the attitude at Garmin-ASUS, who are conveniently forgetting all about their much-postponed nuvifone G60 and instead are talking about their upcoming Android smartphone, set to arrive by the end of Q1 2010.

Sanyo just announced two new in-dash navigation systems that GPS lovers are sure to appreciate. They are the NVA-GS1609FT and the NVA-GS1409DT and they both actually come with solid-state drives as a part of the package.
Magellan’s Maestro 4700 PND has cleared the FCC, the first new product in the GPS company’s Maestro series for several months. Based around a 4.7-inch touchscreen, the 4700 PND supports voice commands and Bluetooth; you can find full capabilities in the user manual [PDF link]

There’s also Magellan’s OneTouch interface, which couple’s often-accessed addresses from the favorites list with some defaults, including an emergency location, together with common POI searches or records. Connections include a USB for recharging as well as hooking the 4700 up to a computer, and a microSD card slot.
The Maestro 4700 also supports traffic updates, although it requires the Traffic Link adapter which is sold separately. Obviously there’s no word on when we can expect to see the PND on shelves, but we wouldn’t expect to have to wait too long.
